The Cricut Design Studio Software Will Turn Your Cricut Bug Into A Beast Of Creativity... If You Know How To Use IT!

Have you made up your mind about using the Cricut Design Studio or the Sure Cuts A Lot software with your cricut yet? I will assume you have, else you're out of your mind! (and the scrapbooking gods will punish you :)

If you think back to the first time you sat at a computer screen I can guarantee you said: “I can’t do this” or “Are you kidding”, or my favorite… “Hieroglyphics are easier to understand than this.” But you made it through and now you can’t imagine your life without your computer. Well, it’s no different when you’re working with Cricut Design Studio®.

Among other cool stuff, the Cricut Design Studio® lets you combine images from more than one cartridge to create a unique design with just a touch of a button. ProvoCraft™ is the creator of the Cricut®, its numerous cartridges, accessories and the Cricut Design Studio® (CDS). It has been our observation that Provo-Craft has under estimated the success of this new product. Their customer service department is overwhelmed with questions and concerns to the point of frustration for their users.

The CDS is powerful software but without knowing how it works, it is useless. Our hope is that with this user-guide you will get a better understanding of how CDS works and use this knowledge to impress yourself with your own crea-tivity and never waste time again trying to figure out CDS.

This is the introduction of a cricut guide I just purchased that teaches how to use my cricut with the Design Studio Software.

Below are some of the things I learned from "Taming The Green Bug".

Flipping In Design Studio

Creating Mirror Images

If you want a mirror image of a character, create 2 duplicate images and then click the flip button and you have two characters looking at each other.

Saving Paper with Design Studio
Saving Paper with Design Studio

Save Paper - Don't Waste It!

This "paper saver" features saves you paper by adjusting the cutting to use the least amount of paper. For example, let say you wanted to cut several different shapes out of the same color/design card stock.  Click the ‘Paper Saver’ function and select all the images you would like to cut out of that particular card stock/scrapbook paper. As you select the images CDS will place those images as close together as possible as to save as much paper as possible.

Keyboard Fun Facts

For those who find the ‘handles’ annoying, holding the Alt key down will hide the
selection handles as you move an image. To bring them back, simply let go of the
Alt key and they will reappear. You can also move an image in small increments by using the up, down, left, and right arrows while pushing the Ctrl key.

Try these cricut cartridges, your friends will envy you!
